Mary Kaldor is professor of Global Governance and co-director of the Center for the Study of Global Governance at the London School of Economics. She has written widely on security issues and on democracy and civil society. Professor Kaldor is the author of New and Old Wars: Organised Violence in a Global Era, as well as of numerous other books, including Global Civil Society: An Answer to War (2003) and Human Security: Reflections on Globalization and Intervention (2007). She is also editor and co-author of the annual Global Civil Society Yearbook. She is convener of the Human Security Study Group, which reports to the EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana.
