The 2019 J Street Conference, “Rise to the Moment”, was the largest and most successful conference in the 11 year history of the movement. With 4,000 participants, including 1,200 college students, the Washington Convention Center was filled with energy, enthusiasm and hope for the future.

The loudest applause, particular from the students, was for Senator Bernie Sanders. When Obama Administration veteran Ben Rhodes of “Pod Save the World” asked him the first question, Sanders responded “I can’t answer your questions sitting down” and he stood up and started to talk. When the almost 42 year old Rhodes said he couldn’t keep up with him, 78 year old Sanders, showing no signs of his recent heart attack, said “I don’t want to bring up the age issue”.
