Dr. Meron Benvenisti, a former deputy mayor of Jerusalem (1971-78), was appointed by then-Mayor Teddy Kollek to be responsible for relations with East Jerusalem after the war in 1967. He is the author of the recently published Son of the Cypresses: Memories, Reflections, and Regrets from a Political Life.
