Water and Ecology
Dear Sirs,
Congratulations on this new journal!
The three articles on water in the Summer 1994 issue will help to
dispel the myth that water issues in the region cannot be
compromised. However, all three suggest, perhaps unintentionally,
that every drop of water can be tuned to human use. The truth is
that water also provides a variety of ecological services -
services that are as critical for economic stability as for quality
of life. If we do not leave at least minimal quantities in our
watercourses, we will pay a high price for recovery in the
not-very-long run - something Israel is now facing with its coastal
streams.
Yours sincerely,
David B. Brooks, Director

I received a copy of your journal and I am excited by what I read.
The course that I am currently teaching on the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict will be greatly enhanced by your materials.
