Elie Barnavi is Professor Emeritus of Early Modern History at Tel Aviv University and scientific advisor to the Museum of Europe in Brussels. From 2000 to 2002, he served as the Ambassador of Israel to France.
The European experiment is based on shared history and common values, elements
which are lacking in the Israeli-Palestinian reality, where the primary challenge is
politics, not identity.
