Dr. Ilan Peleg is the Charles A. Dana Professor of
Government & Law at Lafayette College and a scholar
at the Middle East Institute in Washington, DC. A former
president of the Association for Israel Studies and the
founding editor-in-chief of Israel Studies Forum, Peleg
is the author or editor of 11 books, including Israel’s
Palestinians: The Conflict Within (Cambridge, 2011, with
Dov Waxman), Human Rights in the West Bank & Gaza
(Syracuse, 1995), The Emergence of Binational Israel:
The Second Republic in the Making (Westview, 1989), and
Democratizing the Hegemonic State (Cambridge, 2007).
In the long run, Oslo and the two-state solution may still prove successful, given the
immense problems with agreeing on and implementing any imaginable alternative
solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
