Lucy Nusseibeh is the founder and executive chair of MEND (Middle East Nonviolence and Democracy), chair of the Nonviolent Peaceforce (Geneva), and global strategy group member of GPPAC. Formerly director of the Institute of Modern Media at Al-Quds University, and from 2004-5 a senior research fellow at the Women and Public Policy Program in the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
To make the most of the potential of 1325, we need to ensure that enough women with
a good understanding of gender and from a wide range of backgrounds are at the table
and to challenge traditional gender norms, address traditional patriarchal mindsets, and
shift traditional structural power imbalances.
